Rough Cut One

This is our first right rough cut, although we have only managed to edit the first minute and a half of the music video as we need to shoot one more scene (projector work). The first edit roughly complies to our story board however, some shot and edits have changed due to stronger performance (both physically and through editing). Here are some evident progress of our music video coming to life.

We started off by placing the music into Final Cut Pro (our editing software) to see how the timeline of our music video would be and it also gave us a good idea of how long our shots should be due to the visible wave lengths on the song. This was useful as we could create accurate thought beats.

Then we added our field work at this point of editing, this was the most filming we had to edit.

During the time of beginning to edit our work, Abbie had filmed some studio work and therefore we were able to add this to our work. The main shot on this photo, is our main lip sync, and this is the base video for out work.

After looking at our field footage on the Mac, we realised that the lightening wasn't very grand and we did not think it looked professional so therefore we have over-layered the footage with 'Blobs' which is an already made over-lay on Final Cut Pro.

The 'Blobs' is originally this red, orange and yellow colour which didn't match our semantic field of sadness and loneliness, which has connotations with the colour with the colour blue. Therefore, we colour matched our work to the shots on the field.

We over-layered two of our footages together and changed the opacity to make them both visible. This technique is used in the actual Ellie Gouldings Figure 8 video. We felt as a group that it was a very effective technique and decided to incorporate in our own work.

Between some of our edits we felt that the shots were to jumpy and therefore we decided to add the transition 'Simple' from our editing software to make the transaction from the shots to the shot more smooth. Also, a plus, it created a really good thought beat.

This is our Rough Cut One, however we have made it quite detail and the Final Cut will be very similar to this. Our Rough Cut One is the beginning or our video, Rough Cut Two will be the middle or our video and Rough Cut Three and Four will be the final products and any 'tidying up'. There are still some blank spaces in this cut as we are till in need to film our projector work.
